Get Fiber Setup

Some notes on Get Fiber (now Telia)

Their stock modem is a Genexis HRG-1000. It’s not amazing and I’m not allowed to change the wifi password.

It has a SC fiber interface, and can be replaced with a 1000BASE-BX10-U SFP module.

There’s no special VLANs on my net, so it’s quite easy to use your own router.

If you decide to spoof the mac of the modem, beware: The modem requests dhcp on a few mac addresses, one of which seems to put it on a 10.0.0.0-net which does not have any internet access. There might be possible to access interesting things on this net.

I decided not to spoof my modem, since it works great without.

GET IPTV

The GET TV box needs two things to work, a special DHCP field and IGMP proxy on the router.

It’s basically encrypted MPEG-TS over multicast, and can be replaced with tvheadend and oscam for decryption, but I never figured out how to get updates for the card, so it needs to go back in the TV box quite often. I figured it wasn’t worth it since I don’t watch much TV anyways.

The special DHCP field seems to be an address for a squid proxy for the TV box, looks like it’s used for stuff in the menu, rental movies and stuff. The box doesn’t work without it. Maybe there’s a way to get a list of multicast addresses from it.

The EPG is annoyingly transmitted on a single multicast address and won’t be picked up by tvheadend. I tried to parse it with a modified version of TSParser.py and make it into xmltv, but lost interest.
